Science of Tsunami vs. Science of Everyday Living
0 comments Posted by Malaybalay Blogger at 5:34 AMAccording to experts, tsunami occurs when there is sudden movement at the bottom of the sea thereby causing friction of the "fault" and forcing the waves to move upward to as high as it can go. In the case of Japan, the 8.9 magnitude is the intensity of the movement and the waves that went up, went as high as 100 plus miles upwards. The data may be simplistic so may not be as scientific as it was intended but it would suffice to say that great damage had been done. When CNN showed it, the boats, the buildings, all other objects that got on its way were literally turned into rubble or were pushed to as far as it came from.
The "science" of everyday life, however, does not dwell much on the physical movements that go down under water. Rather, it focuses on the depth of realization that haunts every believer and drives him/her to question the extent of preparedness to meet the Maker if the tsunami were to happen and death was inevitable,
Teacher's teacher is trying to make something of both if only to stay sane and hopeful that things happen to remind us that this world is not meant to become perfect. Only that which is perfect can become one.
The call is always upon us to face our own "tsunamis" in life especially now that even the nuclear plant of Japan has caught fire.The challenge is now more intense since many countries will be affected, if not geographically then economically. Underdeveloped countries, like the Philippines, will always suffer more the consequences like oil increase which will now a valid reason to go on increasing.
While attention is on tsunamis, we should not totally forget another "tsunami" - kind of problem in Libya. The turmoil may not be about water but the anger and dissatisfaction of the Libyans towards their leaders. The Filipinos, who were forced to leave Libya, had to come home to a country where they felt they do not have good future in terms of employment if they had their way, they would have remained in Libya even it e was dangerous.
Life tells us that science or not, the one gift which should never be taken for granted is every person's life. For what it is worth: We are made in the image and likeness of the Creator of everything.

For teachers, the materials are exactly what are considered beyond books. Teachers can almost imagine every pupil and student transfixed as they hold on to what is being shown, teaching them in live color what a tsunami is and how it destroys everything that gets in its way.
For the onlookers, you might think it is awesome but for the victims, it means life or death.

Good Teachers should also include Facebook and Twitter as qualifications

Good teachers should already entertain the inevitable, that of having facebook and twitter accounts. Of course, young and advanced professionals have already done this so the advice is directed more for the fiftiesh and above.
Someday, the senior citizens will be bringing their own Apple compu set and/or i pod and why not?
The children are expected to be more patient in teaching their parents. Luckily, Chevy, Tennis Guru, always facilitate the on-the-spot IT session of Teacher's teacher.

Is it because there was clear understanding that the parade participants prepared what to wear so the onlookers do not waste their time waiting for a long time. Nowadays however, there is passivity that prevails. In addition, there is the sad realization that even the so-called costumes came to be worn with some doubt as to how it caime to be - prepared as priced or at a discounted rate, its genuineness has been minimized. Are there people to blame, who made money?
For people who have overcome indifference, the event is dominant over superficial details. Bukidnon celebrates its 94th foundation - this is the determining reason for jubilation.

When to speak out and when to just keep mum . . .
0 comments Posted by Malaybalay Blogger at 7:54 AMHave you had the experience of feeling you just have to speak out about certain issue and you did in one forum and yet after doing so, the feeling was one which is empty? This is my present predicament. The feeling is so all embracing, it is already CSI time, my favorite tv feature in Channel 22, AXN, the "bile" is still in my consciousness.
This leads me to the observation that it is better to keep mum or better still to become passive for as long as the benefits are there. What do you think?
Teachers, in general, prefer the latter than the former, I hasten to add. Or am I wrong?
So as I go on watching CSI, I will also go on reflecting on the dilemma I am in. I pray that tomorrow, I will wake up refreshed, renewed and re-oriented and geared for a better perspective on matters that only the day brings.

After a number of years, other countries experienced the urgent need to be empowered for their future so we hear of Egypt and now Libya. Similar phenomena occurred in many other places and like any event that calls for risks, others failed while other succeeded. The world indeed is the best teacher of life. We are the learners who go about responding to do or not to do what needs to happen.
Travels too offer another avenue of knowing what seems to be the crisis of the moment. Like Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, these countries tell the other nations how they took care and are taking care of their beloved lands. Tourists are awed at their skycrapers and the developments that look too advanced we can only wish the Philippines will keep up. Yet, at the end of the day, it is without hesitation that if made to choose Teacher's teacher will still choose her native land Philippines, maybe not because of its infrastructures but because of its simplicity and family relationships.
The world is there to become our stage and we, the actors, in this drama of life have to do our roles to the best way possible. Then there is our Creator who will hold us accountable for the life given to us to say yes or no to life's calling.
At this juncture, our prayers to Flordeliz Gayon Malicse who passed away very recently. She has lived life with zest and meaning, her time has come but now she is happily back in God's fold. To the family, hold on to the faith that being with God is the best way to live a life without end.

Life seems to become more complicated now because while we have finally received Gold in all the levels categorized in Plants vs. Zoombies, to this day "Endless Vases"under Puzzles remain unconquered. After all these two are endless ventures so in Puzzles - 15 levels seemed too much what with the two giants to be vanquished using the same defense moves! With survival, we raised 40 flags while we learned one strategist managed to amass 1000 flags! With all this unconquered territories, we were introduced to another game: Angry Birds.
Now we have to spend to tame How the "Angry Birds" but this will have to happen for a long time to come. From experience, one becomes angry too as you play the game because the target becomes more difficult to hit.
So Plants vs. Zoombies enthusiasts - where are you? Have you met the Angry Birds? Have you come to the point of getting angry yourself?
With all our agenda in life, is there really a place for Plants vs. Zoombies and now, The Angry Birds?

What is it about travelling that really gets us going?
From my end, it is the new adventure and the "thud" in your heart especially when you face the immigration officers who look "mean" and go around the new environment with complete dependence on your tour guide. Then just when you decide to let go of the newness of it all, the scenery before you makes you wish all of it can be replicated back home.
Take a look at some of these awesome sites . . . and we do acknowledge the "developed" country that Singapore is and Kuala Lumpur too.
Yet for us who have lived for more than half a century, we get to give more importance to realities that truly matter: love of family with the children as the people dearest to your heart and one's home where everything natural is - the feeling that in it is the genuine belongingness and being who you truly are.
So to get back to the question: what is it about travelling that gets you going? It is basically to get away but only for a short time and travel back home to come home to stay.

With Teacher's teacher senior citizen status, it is a wonder to be able to wander around Cebu to Singapore to Malaysia back to Singapore to Cebu and finally home. For Teacher's teacher it is another opportunity to share to her students the bigger world out there and inspire them to see it for themselves!

Singapore is famous for its Universal Studio where Resorts World is or is it RW where Universal Studio is. Also a Singapore trademark is Marina Tower: 56 stories! So up there, we see the grand city.
Our trip to Malaysia was the "icing on the cake" what with the generosity of Datu and Datin and Zaiful. We went around Kuala Lumpur inside a "Hummer" and a tour guide who is the son of an Ambassador - how's that for a treat?
Succeeding blogs will feature more sites which we can only remember with much candor for now we have come home and of course it has to be said: With all the feasts one's eyes can only behold and leave us tongue-tied and awed, our hearts still prefer our home.
