You see, the news that bombards us day in and day out sometimes negates the very root of our being. This being said, there seems to be some power over and above and beyond us that keeps pushing the remnants of the fire to hold on to the humaneness and goodness that is latent in the core so let it be.
If there comes a moment of despair
There comes too, a moment of repair
Life seems to paint so many patterns
There are those that catch one's chagrin
But more that makes us grin
So we go the mile Fellow Sojourner
We nod with all that confirms life firmer
Am for it, I pray, you too!
The travel bug that brightens and sharpens your outlook in life . . .

For a very long time the notion was that travel was only for the rich and the famous. This was the thought for local travels so international travel was definitely out of the picture. What was instrumental in changing this accepted arrangement was Cebu Pacific discount fares. We have to thank Cebu Pacific for such a move for Teacher'steacher was able to visit Hongkong-Zhenzhen-Macau China last 2008 and this year, 2011, in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur last February and Hongkong-Macau again this March!
Other travel agencies also loosened their air fares but not as record breaking as Cebu Pacific's. At least it is no longer unreachable to see our neighboring Asian countries. The next stop will have to be New York or if Oprah reads this blog: Chicago.
So travel before you reach 70 while your feet can still get you where your companions are rushing to go. Just to think Metro Railway Train is so much to anybody who can not walk briskly to enter the train before its door closes and leave it soon enough before it again closes. Also be ready to stand if there are no more "gentlemen" around who will offer their seats for you. You have to hold on to the railing or remain standing with your feet apart ready for a balanced stance so you will not fall if there are sudden brakes.
At the end of the day, travel bug is one good bug that can happen to you.

It is heartening to know that Prince William of Wales expresses some jitters before April 29, 2011 wedding with Kate Middleton. Even more exciting to note is what this wedding will mean to the imagination of writers all over the world. Thanks to the internet and tv, people all over the world will see a beautiful ceremony amidst all crises that beset the world.
If for Prince William it is jitters, for the on-lookers, it is a much awaited love story about to come true not only for the two of them but to what love stories are made of. Jitters tell those who have loved and those who are in love that such a feeling is normal and ultimately is a sign of true love.
By now there is a countdown until April 29 comes. Teacher's teacher got the information that when the time comes that a baby comes along, a Filipino nanny might be invited to become one. We would like to believe that a Filipino is chosen as a possible nanny because she knows how to take care of a baby plus she can communicate well and is basically a good care giver.
May God bless the soon-to-be married Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton with the best gifts marriage brings. May their love give fruition to the overused ending of most love stories: . . .and they live happily ever after . . .
Just looking at the twin boys "blabbing" "talking" "communicating" gives us all the reason in the world to smile and know that the world is still worth living in. Children, indeed, make our day.
So let us see the video again and again. . . and smile again and again . . .
How do we make sense with loss of life other than natural death?
0 comments Posted by Malaybalay Blogger at 6:17 PMHow do we make sense with loss of life other than natural death is the question foremost in the minds of families who lost their loved ones through death penalty, heinous crimes and the like? How do we make sense with the loss which by itself is senseless and if ever has basis, the life of a human being should have ample strength to get more significant weight over all other issues at hand?
Due to the internet, especially Google, it is already one's ignorance if you cannot surf once in a while if only to update one's awareness. Part of this move however is to ask questions, one of which is the present one: How do we make sense with loss of life/lives other than natural death? We are all stuck right there in our living room or kitchen or internet cafes brooding, thinking and sighing why all these phenomena are still happening in 2011. Then we realize, for as long as every person refuses to go beyond instinct, materialism, egoism, cannibalism and plain sinful tendencies, man will go on answering the questions as long as it takes.
Today, March 30, 2011 is one of the longest days since three Filipinos lives are in the brink of "life or death".
0 comments Posted by Malaybalay Blogger at 5:48 PMToday has a different meaning depending on where you are situated in the globe: others are a day ahead while others are a day late and this alone leaves you to do the research why?
This is the word for this blog: WHY? These are some of the whys that will make or unmake you, help or destroy a person's life:
One: Why are some people very rich they have a hard time thinking how to spend it? Why are others facing the whole country, like the Ligot couple of the Philippines, answer or not answer whether they owned houses in Los Angeles or Canada etcetera; whether they have millions of dollars or pesos out of their sweat or out of their escapades legal or illegal - still in court to be settled -. Why Mr. and Mrs. Ligot can sit there in the Senate hearings for weeks now and look at people and smile or laugh along the way with every other Filipino gnawing or biting their tongues how to control themselves not to throw anything directed to the tv hoping it will hit you?
Two: Why are many people very poor they have to become "drug mules" or rob or scavenge or stare at the sky hoping for manna from heaven or become crazy or killers or commit suicide? Why are Sally Ordinario, Ramon Credoand Elizabeth Batain today, March 30, awaiting their execution in a foreign country, Beijing, China, when there some proofs according to some sources, that they are victims of drug syndicates? "3 Filipino Drug mules" they are called. An additional information has just surfaced that in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, there are about 70 Filipinos who are also facing execution, why? why? why? Back to the 3 Filipino mules awaiting execution: the promulgation of the verdict will happen at 9:45 A.M. Beijing, China and the time now is 8:16 A.M. Our heart goes out to the children, the parents and relatives and every Filipino who are praying ardently, hoping for a miracle that only the hand of God can bestow. We have only God to rely on for the Chinese government has already said its piece, that the Chinese government is hard on Drug peddlers. Only God knows why Ordinario, Credo and Batain are embroiled in such a dangerous situation it has come to this consequence: death by lethal injection.
Three: Why is there death penalty in China and other countries when by now it is common knowledge that even heinous crimes are not eradicated by death penalty. Criminals, after all, are human beings whose lives are given by God and no country - superpower or not - can take away a person's life which is not its property in the first place. There are many schools of thought about death penalty but there is no question about who has given life to man: the Creator or God, the Author of Life!
These are just some of the whys that Teacher's teacher would like to reflect upon. Many more whys will be dealt with in the succeeding blogs.
In the meantime, let us take a moment or so to observe silence, bow our heads and offer prayers for our co-filipinos whose lives are in the hands of the Chinese "justice" system. May God be with you more than ever . . .
How do you understand the revelation of Senator Lacson why he fled and now came back?
0 comments Posted by Malaybalay Blogger at 9:13 AMThe once Chief of Philippine National Police and later became and still is a Senator of the Republic of the Philippines Senator Panfilo Lacson, decided to flee the country and stayed in hiding for a year since January 2010. His name was dragged in the unsolved murder cases of Dacer and Corbito. and when he felt he would not have the justice he wanted in a regime where he did not believe in, he just disappeared. Then recently we heard his side of the story why he has come back and is determined to "face the music".
For ordinary citizens, the question arises: How do we understand the revelation of Senator Lacson, now that he has resurfaced and has decided to become Senator of the Philippines once again notwithstanding the cases hurled against him? Teacher's teacher advances some points of reference:
One: Listening to Senator Lacson during his press conference this March 28, 2011, reminds us how a person goes through some trials alone. Friends can help but the pain that hits the innermost part of one's being is the person's alone and no one elese's.
Two, Reflecting on what he called his burdens-that he washed dishes, cooked his meals, baked some recipes, hid inside the house most of the time and the like - the lonely state is sometimes too much to bear.
Three:Humility is always a difficult virtue to accept and do but there are moments that it becomes the meaning behind the story.
How do we understand the revelation of Senator Lacson? We understand only to the extent that you are either open to the possibility it can happen to you or has already happened or is about to happen. To understand is not just a matter of knowing up in the head but in the heart as well and who knows - in one's walk daily. Judgment is not our territory but God's so how do we understand one issue is to allow it to take the course of time for if there is anything that happens it is that which has to happen when its time comes. We are all human beings who have a mission to fulfill sometimes easy and sometimes difficult.
Teacher's teacher can only pray for the good Senator to live up to the special mission bestowed on him by his constituency. Let us pray for each other so that the truth will come out not only for the Dacer and Corbito families but to the Filipino people who need genuine leaders and role models.
Why do travels succeed and/or not succeed? This is the question.
0 comments Posted by Malaybalay Blogger at 7:05 AMIt must be clear by now that Malaybalayan just came from a travel which was so successful. The wish is there to make it possible to would-be travellers to have a glimpse of what makes a travel succeed even before it happens.
Why do travels not succeed is the way to know why it succeeds. These are some of thequestions that must be asked and the answers should be positive.
One: Does the travelling group have a team of planners. These planners prepare the itinerary to a T such that research is part of its preparation. They assign among themselves what every item must be implemented. Nothing is left to chance.
Second: When the journey begins, is there a leader according to the need of the moment? For example, who gets the map upon arriving in the airport of Hongkong or Singapore or Macau? Does he/she know how to read the map? Can this person be relied upon in following directions especially in how to go about the MRT tours and rides? If the group is "lost" who keeps up the morale?
Third: Who holds the purse? Should there be extra money needed, is there someone who can supply it epecially because the group is in a foreign country. Does this person have a credit card?
Fourth: Does someone become the cheer leader if there is need for pep talk? Who says it is time to rest and breathe more deeply and easily?
Fifth: Does someone care to find out if the food is delicious or is there need to go to a familiar place like MacDonald or Kentucky Fried Chicken if the food served seems too chinese or too foreign for a filipino taste?
Sixth: Is there a photographer who knows how to give justice to the magnificent views and sites that the group may never be able to visit again or if ever, only after two years or so?
Seventh: Do you pray once in a while for the many good things that have been happening especially the good weather, the safe journey, the good health, the problem-free immigration procedure and the like?
Eighth: Did you come home intact as a group with smiles on your lips even if every part of your body is aching of fatigue?
There are many more questions but these eight will do and in fact are already difficult to fill you man not want to travel after all.
So have a safe trip and God bless!
Travels make you forget if only for a week what made you travel in the first place.
0 comments Posted by Malaybalay Blogger at 4:37 PMTravels are for everyone so why not travel? For some, it may not be immedite what with the infants and the very young kids who occupy the minds of young moms. Precisely because of this scenario, young mothers can already begin planning when the travels will be once the infants become children and the children become old enough to travel.
Think about this: Travels make you forget if only for a week what made you travel in the first place. What does this mean? It means sooner or later life will become stressful - more or less - and to catalyze it is to let it run its course and leave it - by travelling and seeing other milieus and scenery. More than not you come home refreshed, renewed and more open to the other facets of what gave you the stress and other ways of looking at it.
So travel - and travel soon before you end up physically weak to enjoy only travels provide to strengthen even the weak bones and the "slow puts".
